Iaito are swords specifically designed for drawing practice or Iaido. Typically unsharpened, the blade is often shorter and has a blood groove or Bo-hi carved into it.
Iaito Katana
Musashi Iaito
Miyamoto Musashi was arguably the most famous sword master in Japanese history, having won more than 60 duels before retiring to a cave to write The Book of Five Rings. Mounted in black, this sword is faithful to the original, featuring the double iron ring tsuba. The tsuka-ito is leather over ray skin.
Tsuru Iaito
The Tsuru (Crane) Iaito features a cutout crane tsuba and black saya. A matching katana and short sword (wakizashi) are both available.

Tori Iaito
The Tori features a Flying Crane themed Tsuba and Fuchi/Kashira (pommel and guard support) while the menuki (decorative pieces on the handle) are kabuto (helmet). The Tsuka (handle) is high quality brown leather over a black same. The Saya (scabbard) is wrapped at the mouth with black lacquered rattan and finished in brown.
Practical Plus Iaito
The Practical Plus Iaito provides an economical yet authentic sword for the Iaido practitioner. Three blade lengths (27, 28, 29) are available to perfectly match your needs. The blade is forged from steel for more precise weight and balance than an aluminum blade can offer. It is also maintenance free, providing a lifetime of practice without worry of rust or tarnish. The Practical Plus features genuine Same (Rayskin) on the Tsuka, with a tightly-woven cotton wrap (Tsuka-Ito). The long tang is double-pegged for security. The fittings of the Practical Plus are decorated in a Japanese Dogwood motif with dragon menuki, and the handsome Tsuba is of an iron “sunburst” design with a brass habaki.
